1. There shall be five classes of members of the Association: Active, Senior, Associate, Honorary and Affiliate. 2. Active Membership in the Association shall be open to all individuals of good professional standing who have an active interest in clinical anatomy. 3. Senior Membership shall be open to those who have been Active Members for at least five years and have reached age sixty-five. They shall have all the privileges and responsibilities of Active Members. Senior members who are no longer employed full time are not required to pay dues, but are required to pay the subscription fee at the member's rate if they wish to continue receiving the journal. 4. Associate Membership shall be open to medical students and residents, and, graduate students in anatomy. Associate members will receive the official journal but will not be able to vote. They will pay a nominal fee. 5. Affiliate Membership shall be open to members of the British Association of Clinical Anatomists who wish to affiliate with the American Association of Clinical Anatomists. They shall pay a nominal fee. 6. Honorary Membership shall be open to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to clinical anatomy. They shall have no voting privileges, are not eligible for elected office and are not required to pay dues. 7. Founding Members shall be those elected before December 31, 1983. 8. Honored Members - One individual per year shall be selected by the Council and honored at the annual meeting. The individual so honored will be one who has made outstanding contributions to clinical anatomy. If not already a member he/she shall be awarded honorary membership in the association. 9. The Executive Council, with the approval of the whole Association, shall have the power to establish other classes of membership. 10. Categories of membership requiring dues or fees shall be forfeited upon failure to pay them for more than one year.
1. The Association shall be governed by an Executive Council to be composed of the Officers and Councilors of the Association. 2. The Officers of the Association shall be a President, a President-Elect, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Program Secretary, and six councilors, and the immediate Past President. As amended, March 1998

BYLAWS
ARTICLE I - ELECTION OF MEMBERS 1. Membership in the Association requires that candidates submit to the Membership Chairman a completed Application for AACA Membership form and a current copy of their Curriculum Vita or Resume. In addition the Membership Chairman must receive two letters of recommendation written on behalf of the candidate one of which must be from a member of the AACA in good standing. Letters must document an active commitment to the maintenance of high standards in anatomical education, involvement in anatomical research with clinical application or administrative or other experience in the field of anatomy as applied to education or the provision of health care and safety. 2. All applications so received will be reviewed semi-annually by the Membership Committee, which shall make its recommendations known to the Executive Council. In the absence of objection, new members thus approved shall be billed for membership. Those completing applications at least 30 days prior to that year's annual meeting shall be billed for the current year. Those completing application later will be billed for the following calendar year when the Call for Membership Dues is distributed to the membership. Membership shall become effective upon receipt of dues, at which time a subscription to the official journal CLINICAL ANATOMY will be entered. Each new member is expected to be present at the annual business meeting, at which they will be introduced and Certificates of Membership shall be presented.
ARTICLE II- ELECTION OF OFFICERS AND COUNCILORS 1. Elections shall be held by mail ballot. Subject to the willingness and availability of candidates, at least two nominees for each position shall be proposed by the Nominating Committee following receipt of suggestions from the membership. Each nominee must submit a written statement of willingness to serve if elected. The candidate (or candidates for a position with more than one vacancy) for each office receiving the majority of votes cast will be elected. Officers and councilors will take office at the end of the annual meeting during which their election is announced. 2. The President and President-Elect shall be elected for terms of two years. The President shall not succeed himself/herself. The Secretary and Treasurer shall be elected for terms of three years. 3. The Past President shall be a member of the Executive Council for two years following her/his term as president. 4. Six Councilors at large shall be elected for terms of two years. 5. The Program Secretary shall serve a three-year term. |

ARTICLE III- DUTIES OF OFFICERS AND COUNCILORS 1. The President shall preside at meetings of the Executive Council and at the Annual Business Meeting of the Association, shall have the power to appoint committees and serve as ex officio member of each, and shall appoint Officers and Councilors to vacancies occurring between Annual Business Meetings. 2. The President-Elect shall assume the duties of the President in his/her absence and shall chair the Membership Committee. 3. The Secretary shall maintain all the official non-financial records of the Association, and coordinate the activities of Executive Council according to standard practices. 4. The Treasurer shall maintain and account for the financial records of the Association according to standard practices. 5. The Membership Chairman shall solicit and process applications for membership according to the Association's policies. 6. The Program Secretary shall receive all abstracts for the Annual Meeting of the Association, distribute them for review without identification of author(s) and prepare the program for the Annual Meeting. 7. The Executive Council shall oversee the financial management of the association including setting dues and fees. 8. A manual outlining the Standard Policies, Practices and Procedures of the Association shall be maintained by the Executive Council.

1. Appointments to standing and ad hoc committees shall be made usually by the President. 2. Standing Committees. A. Membership Committee of three members, chaired by the President-elect, to review applications for membership and make recommendations in writing to the Executive Council and membership for action at the Annual Business Meeting. B. Nominating Committee of three members, two appointed by Council and one nominated and elected by the membership, to select nominees for the various offices of the Association. The term of office shall be one year. C. Journal Committee of four members, including the Editor-in-Chief of the journal, CLINICAL ANATOMY (non-voting), and the President-Elect, shall be responsible for management of the journal and shall conduct negotiations as necessary with its editors and publisher. D. Constitution and Bylaws Committee of three members, two appointed by the Executive Council and one nominated and elected by the membership, to make recommendations to the Executive Council on amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws. E. Financial Affairs Committee of four members, the Treasurer (non-voting), two appointed by the Executive Council and one nominated and elected by the membership, to oversee the establishment and management of an endowment fund, to make recommendations to the Executive Council for maximizing financial resources, and to review annually the AACA financial records. F. Educational Affairs Committee of a Chairperson and other members, appointed by the Executive Council, to generate educational documents and to plan and implement the Educational Affairs Symposium at the Annual Scientific Meeting. 3. Terms of appointments to committees shall be three years, unless otherwise stated, with terms so staggered that new members are appointed each year.
1. There shall be an Annual Meeting of the Association at a location determined by the Council. Ten active members including at least two members of the Council will constitute a quorum. More frequent meetings may be called by the President. 2. Meetings of the Association shall be governed by the rules set forth in Robert's Rules of Order wherever practical and consistent with the Constitution and the Bylaws. The Constitution and Bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds majority mail vote of members' ballots returned. Ballots must be received within 45 days of the date of mailing of the proposed amendments.
