Assistant Professor, Anatomy & Exercise/Health Science:


The University of Idaho is seeking a talented educator and researcher to join our faculties in the WWAMI Medical Education Program and the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (HPERD) in the areas of human anatomy and exercise/health science.

This is a 9-month, tenure track position. With a passion for both teaching and scholarly pursuits, this person will assist with classroom and lab instruction of musculoskeletal and general anatomy to first year medical students, and will support the Athletic Training and Exercise Science & Health Program through service, advising, and teaching in his/her area of expertise.

This person will conduct research and engage in grant procurement in one of HPERD's general research areas: sustainable healthy lifestyles; human movement and neuroscience.

Qualified candidates must (a) possess an earned doctorate in anatomy, athletic training, exercise/health science, or a related field; (b) demonstrate successful college teaching in the area of human anatomy and one or more of the subdisciplines of exercise/health science; (c) demonstrate evidence of an active research agenda; and (d) demonstrate potential to acquire external funding.

SIU School of Medicine - Carbondale

The Department of Anatomy at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine-Carbondale invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level.   Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, at least two years of postdoctoral experience, and ability to perform productive independent research.   Opportunities for collaboration exist within several basic science and clinical departments, with existing strengths in neuroscience, reproduction, cancer, cell & molecular biology, and medical education.   Teaching experience or training in the anatomical sciences (neuroanatomy, histology/cell biology, gross anatomy, embryology) is preferred. West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine

Gross Anatomy Faculty Position

The Division of Structural Biology at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine invites applicants for a tenure-track position in Human Gross Anatomy.   The successful applicant must have a Ph.D., DO or MD degree, experience in teaching a clinically-oriented anatomy course, and research experience and/or evidence of scholarship in teaching and learning.   Teaching duties will include both lecture and laboratory instruction to first-year medical students and facilitation of 1 st and 2nd year problem-based curriculum groups.  

This position shares in non-academic tasks for the Anatomy Course that are the responsibility of the Anatomy group as well as other related Academic Administrative duties (committee work course/systems coordinator.) Resources for anatomic research include plastination facility, skeletal preparation resources, a small anatomy museum, and a wide range of media support services. Participate in handling resource management, priority decisions, and re-allocation requests. Participate in donated cadaver disposition decisions. Perform embalming to create teaching cadavers, and disarticulation to produce specimens for education and research. Participate in maintenance of perpetual inventory of cadavers, specimens, and prosections. Participate in critical record-keeping of donor files, cremation logs, and vital records. Participate in compliance procedures to meet state and federal statutes, and University policy. Responsible to harvest brain specimens for Neurology. Participate in billing of recharge services. Colorado College

Visiting faculty 2 month (2 block) appointment, beginning February 18 and ending April 16, 2008 in the Sport Science Department at Colorado College, a private, highly selective undergraduate liberal arts institution enrolling approximately 1900 students.

We seek candidates to teach upper level undergraduate cadaver based human anatomy. Ph.D. desired but Ph.D. candidates may also apply. Experience teaching cadaver based human anatomy desired. Colorado College has a unique Block Plan which features focused teaching during intensive 3½ week time periods. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: *ability to perform light construction and basic equipment maintenance ; *ability to efficiently use time and resources; *ability to interact effectively and appropriately with a broad spectrum of people in and outside of the University environment;* ability to work evening and/or weekend hours as necessary; * excellent safe and clean work skills; *establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public; and *excellent oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications: Required : *B.S. in Biological Sciences; *a minimum of two years experience as a anatomy assistant in a laboratory setting; *laboratory teaching; and *experience with human cadaver work.

Preferred : *Significant anatomic work experience desired; and *graduate degree preferred.

The Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy is seeking outstanding candidates and nominees for the position of Chair of the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology. We seek an accomplished researcher, an innovative educator, and an experienced administrator who will provide visionary leadership. Assistant/Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy/Anatomy and Cell Biology

Applications are invited for an interdepartmental tenure track position with the primary appointment (51%) in Occupational Therapy (OT) and secondary appointment (49%) in Anatomy and Cell Biology (ACB). This position carries responsibilities in teaching (~80% effort), scholarly and creative activity (~15% effort), and university service (~5% effort). Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and have at least three years of experience in teaching human anatomy at the undergraduate level. An earned Ph.D. in ACB, OT, or a related field is preferred. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching Anatomy for OT (5 credits) and Fundamentals of Neuroscience for OT (3 credits) and will work with Master's level OT students advising them in their scholarly projects. In the Department of ACB the selected candidate will participate in team-taught graduate courses and also will facilitate one section of small group problem based learning for medical students. Research interests are not restricted and may include basic bench investigation and/or educational studies. Candidates with experience in multidisciplinary approaches to experimental problems, particularly with demonstrated expertise in electron microscopy will be given preference. Potential for making a substantial contribution to OT and/or ACB graduate programs, and high probability for productive collaborations with current faculty members will be considered very important. Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor and the position will be available on or about February 1, 2009.
